Misteli

This project concerns a building of traditional architecture located in Santorini’s Akrotiri area and its total reformation in order to enable the accommodation of new functions such as the operation of a restaurant at the ground floor, three suites on the first floor and an outdoor patio on the rooftop serving the needs of a common recreational space for the guests. The design guidelines in terms of commodity and aesthetics were drawn in respect to the unique traditional characteristics that define the architecture of Cyclades. The use of local materials as well as the colors and textures derived from the exceptional red-coloured cliffs and the volcanic earth seemed appropriate. Simplicity in choice of materials along with the sense of proportion in forms is reflected even in small decorative details.
